Dunton Hot Springs

Christoph Henkel, the visionary owner of Dunton Hot Springs, embarked on a transformative journey to convert a historic 1885 settlement into a luxury mountain resort. Oxbow was brought on board to contribute to the restoration efforts, focusing on melding the charm of the cabins with the breathtaking natural landscape that surrounds them. Our involvement included environmental design, landscape architecture, and the construction of naturalistic streams and ponds, all while prioritizing the preservation of the area's wetland biodiversity, forests, and hot springs.

Our commitment to this project was to seamlessly integrate our enhancements with the natural environment, ensuring that the modifications were indistinguishable from the original landscape, thereby preserving the authentic experience for every visitor and preserving precious wildlife habitat.

Dunton Hot Springs has been an ongoing inspiration in our design philosophy since we started in 1997. It is certainly a testament to the powerful impact that inspired and natural design sense can have towards historic and nature preservation.
