Yellowstone’s Historic Ranch
The real Yellowstone story begins here–horses, cowboys, Nez Perce Indians, and the most magnificent national park in the world, forged along a trail cut through the Diamond P Ranch. Ocile and Martin Portmann, purchased the Diamond P Ranch in 1954, as an original 1890s homestead during the establishment of Yellowstone National Park. This legacy ranch, still owned by the Portmann family today, is the reason visitors from around the world are able to descend from Idaho and Montana, through Targhee Pass, and enter Yellowstone National Park through a beautiful meadow filled with legendary trout waters, wild flowers, and wildlife.
Today, many areas outside of Yellowstone National Park are at threat to traditional development sprawl. In order to preserve this historic legacy ranch, Oxbow is providing full conservation development services from concept through construction. Renovation of historic buildings, cabins, and stream channel restoration are among the many improvements that are being made to convert this former cattle ranch into a legacy guest ranch, accomplishing the preservation of all its historic buildings and open spaces which are a part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
To bolster the ranch's new direction, Oxbow provides full-service creative and marketing including rebrand, content creation, and brand management. Our team ensures sustained success for our clients by providing comprehensive support for every aspect, even after project completion.
